    Dye on everything

Posted by Angela on Mar 18th 2025

Let me preface this review: I love April Cornell dresses; I own five. They are well-made, elegant, practical, and just lovely. This dress is not those things. The fabric feels good, but the bell sleeves are too short for the style, so the dress looks unkempt. The worst aspect of the dress is the dye. There’s a warning that it may run when washed. I’ve owned other clothing like this, but this dress is different. Every single time I wash it, and I’ve washed it 6 times so far, it bleeds onto anything not black, gray, or dark brown. It has ruined my pink towels, a white t shirt that accidentally snuck into that load, anything not black has been shaded pink. It’s not normal. I’m very disappointed with this. I’ll reiterate that this is not typical for April Cornell; everything else I’ve purchased from them is high quality. I would caution anyone considering this dress to choose a different piece.

    Color/fit not as I expected

Posted by Holly on Feb 3rd 2025

I’m a bit disappointed with the color. It looks like a soft, earthy rose in the photos. Mine arrived and is darned—kind of a rusty-brown. It also just doesn’t look as refined as the photo. It remind me of a hippie/festival dress I had in the 90’s in college. It’s so casual that I am not sure that it fits my personality and style. It would seem more appropriate on a woman in her 20’s than a woman in her 50’s. I’m going to dye it and alter it because I really need a dress with pockets, and even though I doesn’t quite look like the photo, I like the feel of the Jersey fabric. I will make it work.

    The color is perfect!

I'm actually wearing this dress today. It is so comfortable. It is kind of a stretchy t-shirt fabric. I love a half or 3/4 sleeve length and this one is perfect. I also love the mauve color.

    Love it!

It's so lovely! I'm 5'2", 130-ish pounds, currently pregnant, and I ordered a Medium. Bodice isn't baggy and the sleeves are so nice. I did notice that the front band doesn't quiiiite make it all the way around the front for me (but, again, currently pregnant) but once the tie is tied it's fine.

    The best

This dress is incredibly flattering. It’s slightly darker than in the photo but is still my favorite of the 5 dresses I bought (it was a tough call). The bodice is slightly short though so I would recommend not sizing down if you’re between sizes. I’m 5’6” and 150 lbs with a 30” waist and 36B chest and the S fit well.

    Not really dusty plum

Posted by Marsha on Oct 16th 2024

This is a beautiful jersey dress, but I think it trends more rust than plum. It has beautiful full sleeves with a nicely embroidered neckline. The belt is different than most of those on April Cornell dresses. This one starts in the front and is part of that band under the bust. I am 5'1 and carry my weight from the waist down. I ordered my usual size small in jersey dresses. It fits wonderfully with the exception that this is definitely a maxi dress on me. I haven't decided if I will shorten it or not because I'd hate for the hem to get dirty.
